Our History

Open and Serving the Community for over 35 Years

The Recovery Resource Center (RRC) was once known as the Salisbury Substance Abuse Community Center (SSACC).

  • 1987 A core group of citizens met to plan for a facility that would host 12-Step programs. The Recovery Community embraced that idea and garnered the support they would need to make the SSACC a reality.
  • 1991 The first 12-step meeting was hosted.
  • 1996 We became a partner agency of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. This partnership has been invaluable as we expand to meet the increasing needs for recovery support.
  • 2016 The organization's name changed to the Recovery Resource Center as we continue to be the hub of recovery for the community.
  • 2020 & Beyond The RRC stayed open through the entire pandemic and continues to remain open 365 days a year without interruption while maintaining safety measures for all those seeking recovery a day at a time.
