Our History
The Recovery Resource Center (RRC) was once known as the Salisbury Substance Abuse Community Center (SSACC). In 1987, a core group of citizens met to plan for a facility that would host 12-Step programs. The Recovery Community embraced that idea and garnered the support they would need to make the SSACC a reality. In 1991, the first 12-step meeting was hosted. In 1996, we became a partner agency of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. This partnership has been invaluable as we expand to meet the increasing needs for recovery support. In 2016, the organization's name changed to the Recovery Resource Center as we continue to be the hub of recovery for the community. In 2020, the RRC stayed open through the entire pandemic and continues to remain open 365 days a year without interruption while maintaining safety measures for all those seeking recovery a day at a time.
